About the IBO
The IBO is an international competition for secondary school pupils whose interest in science and biology goes way beyond the school program. The Scientific Olympiads take place every year in another country and in many different fields as for example biology, chemistry, informatics, mathematics, philosophy and physics. They do not only focus on scientific knowledge and accomplishments but also promote the dialog between cultures and people from all over the planet.
Switzerland participates since 1987 in the Scientific Olympiads. From 14 - 21 July, 2013 Bern will host the first International Scientific Olympiad to take place in Switzerland. We expect about 60 delegations consisting of 240 highly talented participants and over 240 jury members, scholars and scientists.
